Police Minister Bheki Cele says he is worried about the increase in violence in the Western Cape.

Two armed men entered a church in the Taiwan Informal Settlement in Khayelitsha, on Sunday.

They allegedly robbed church-goers – and sexually assaulted two women.

In Kraaifointetin, a 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a child.

He allegedly killed a 3-year-old boy in Wallacedene over the weekend.

And last week, 6 people were gunned down in a suspected gang-related attack in Ocean View.

A 20-year-old suspect is behind bars.

Cele says he’s encouraged that arrests have been made.

” Well all these cases, where we are the police have arrested people. In the case of two congregants who were robbed and sexually assaulted, two people have been arrested. And a grandfather who abused and killed his grandchild has also been arrested”.
