Cape Town’s Traffic Service is offering long-distance public transport operators an opportunity to get their vehicles checked, as part of Operation Exodus.

That’s according to Mayoral committee member for Safety and Security, JP Smith.

He says teams will be stationed at the Joe Gqabi public transport interchange, at the Bellville Traffic Department, and the long-distance bus terminus in the CBD.

“Public safety is paramount, and we hope that our drivers and transport companies can see the value in this service. My message to private motorists is to check your vehicles too. Apart from your engine, make sure your tyres are in good condition, that your tyre pressure is set correctly, that the headlights and brake lights and wipers are working properly; and of course, that the person behind the wheel is fit for the task.”
