This follows claims that a teacher at Fish Hoek High School used a derogatory term.

The context and circumstances surrounding the alleged incident are unclear at this stage,

But the Western Cape Education Department says it was alerted to allegations earlier this week.

The department’s Bronagh Hammond says officials have attended to the matter.
