Karl Bremer Hospital in Cape Town is currently facing significant pressure, particularly in its Emergency unit.

The hospital has seen a rise in patients seeking help for minor ailments, which are categorised as non-urgent.

As a result, patients with life-threatening conditions are prioritised, leading to longer waiting times for those with less severe issues.

This surge in minor cases is said to be causing congestion, while placing added strain on the hospital’s emergency services.

Megan Davids, Communications Officer for Northern Tygerberg Health District, urges patients with non-urgent injuries and ailments, to seek help at Day Clinics.
