Boeing is set to fork out a 243.6 million Dollar fine in a deal with the United States Department of Justice.

In addition, it will have to pay 455 million dollars in compliance and safety programmes over the next three years.

The matter relates to two deadly 737 MAX crashes, in Ethiopia and Indonesia some six years ago.

Boeing had been ordered to pay 2.5 billion Dollars in fines and restitution in exchange for immunity from criminal prosecution, in an agreement reached in 2021.

Speaking to Heart FM News, Zach Wichter, Consumer Travel Reporter for USA TODAY, says Boeing hasn’t kept its end of the bargain.

Boeing is set to plead guilty to “conspiracy to defraud the United States”.

Wichter says, despite the deal, pressure on Boeing is mounting, amid further recent safety concerns.
