The case against an Ashton man linked to the murder of his girlfriend has been postponed until next week Tuesday.

Thulani Nyumbeka appeared in the local magistrate’s court on Wednesday the 10th of April.

He’s facing a charge of murder.

Nyumbeka allegedly stabbed Nolizana Mantlana to death in the Zolani Township, last month.

The case has been postponed until next week for bail information.

Members of the NGO – Zolani GBV Ambassadors and those from other political parties picketed outside court yesterday.

It’s understood that Nyumbeka already has two pending cases of attempted murder against him.

The NGO’s Secretary, Khanyisile Manyosi says they’re happy that he’s still in police custody.

“ We are more than satisfied because they [the State] said it will look into those two pending cases and add them to the current case. In the meantime, he can remain inside [in prison]. This gives us hope maybe next week he won’t get bail”.
