Cape Town’s making space for the very first submarine museum in the African continent.
Preparations are now underway.
The SAS Assegaai submarine is being transformed into a Naval Museum which will be situated at Cole Point in Simon’s Town.
This is a joint project between the South African Navy and the Naval Heritage Trust.
The submarine was taken out of the water in 2003, after 30 years of serving the SA Navy.
The museum is expected to open by the end of this year.
