Child advocacy group, Molo Songololo, has condemned the rape of a two-year-old girl — allegedly by her father — in Worcester.
It’s understood that the incident took place on Tuesday.
Police say the mother had requested the suspect to babysit her child for the day as she was going to work.
On her arrival from work, the toddler informed her of what the suspect had done to her.
The 29-year-old had tried to evade arrest, but the police managed to apprehend him at home.
Molo Songololo director, Patrick Solomons, says child rape is a big issue in the country.
“This is a very very serious crime that happens every day in our homes, throughout the Western Cape, throughout South Africa. We hope that the investigation will be swift and that the child will receive justice.”
