Housing activists are calling for proper oversight and supervision, of social housing agencies in Cape Town.

The call comes amid concerns about the application of unfair practices, that are crippling tenants.

Today, the Western Cape Housing Tribunal, will hear a complaint against the DCI Housing Complex, in Goodwood.

There have been a series of protests, outside the Conradie Park and DCI projects.

Some tenants have flagged, that they’re being overcharged for utility tariffs.

Housing Assembly and Inspire Network’s,Kashifa Achmat, says the tribunal should take the concerns seriously.

She adds that the Standing Committee on Human Settlements, in the Western Cape legislature, should come on board as well.
