South Africa’s murder rate has dropped.

Police minister Senzo Mchunu released the third quarter crime stats today.

He says more than 6 thousand 900 people were killed in the country between October and December last year.

That represents a 9point8 percent drop, compared to the same period in 2023.

Mchunu says the majority of the murders were recorded in 4 provinces…


More than 1 thousand 300 people were killed in the Western Cape during the third quarter of last year.

It represents an 8POINT6 percent drop.
